You can use one of the following sample letters to send to your
legislator or one of your own to let them know why they should
hold drivers accountable for accidents they cause.
SAMPLE LETTER 1
Dear Legislator,
As a responsible Florida driver, I am concerned by our state’s
current system of medical payments coverage for auto insurance.
Right now, under our no-fault system, the injured person and their
insurance covers the cost of medical injuries, regardless of who
is at fault. This is simply not fair and drives up the price responsible
drivers like me pay for auto insurance.
I urge you to instead choose a fault-based system where drivers
are held responsible for the damage they cause. If the Legislature
chooses this fairer system where drivers who cause accidents are
held responsible, Florida will join 38 other states that do not
have or have gotten rid of no-fault medical provisions because
they don't benefit consumers.
It is only then that responsible drivers like me will finally
be able to purchase coverage that is right for our families instead
of being forced to pay for mandated coverage we don’t want
or need, saving Florida families an average of $360 a year.

Dear Legislator,
I am concerned that Florida’s system of auto insurance
is costing my family an extra $360 a year. The way I see it, you
have a choice to make this year regarding the medical payments
coverage for auto insurance. You can either continue the unfair
system where the injured person and their insurance covers the
cost of medical injuries, regardless of who is at fault, or you
can choose a fault-based system where drivers who cause accidents
are held responsible.
A system that holds drivers who cause accidents responsible for
any injuries is fairer and less expensive for Florida drivers
than a broken no-fault system. Under this type of system, my family
will finally be able to purchase coverage that is right for us
instead of being forced to pay for mandated coverage we don’t
want or need. Please help ensure that Florida families like mine
save an average of $360 every year by choosing an insurance system
where drivers are held accountable for accidents they cause.
